Tattoo regrets

Others make a choice that they regret. Some don't even bother trying it as they know it'll lead to permanent results. In this case, tattoo removals have been in extreme demand due to the many regretful people. In fact, in this live science article, seventeen percent of people who get tattoos regret their choice of getting a tattoo. But, thanks to Laser Removal, people could have a 2nd chance or even more if they keep on making bad decisions. How the process works is what I'll be explaining in his blog.


LASER REMOVAL:

This painful tool involves the use of a artificial laser beam. The tattoo then absorbs the light which causes the ink to transform into a multiplicity of smaller. The body does the rest and you are now able to remove the tattoo off our skin. Despite this, some colors may react slower like green, purple, and light orange. Most tattoos our successful however it must involve countless

treatments. However, most people consider this precedere as a rubber band "snapped" against your skin.



OTHER CONSEQUENCES:

On the other hand for this operation, there's chances that you may have scars, burns, and other skin damages that could greatly affect your body. There's a subsitute "infintiink" which requires less lasering and at the same time, gives pernament results. This means less pain and less expense.


So in reality, if you're thinking about getting a tattoo, think of negatives first. Then consider your choice and take it.

Icebergs: Just pieces of ice or something promising

When I first think of icebergs, all I think of is little obstacles in the sea that blocks boats and ships from passing such as the titantic. However despite this, the iceberg has brought many benefits to the environment instead of just being a piece of ice. Well according to Wayne Perry from Livescience.com, "After three expeditions to Iceberg Alley, the team found that the icebergs gradually release iron, a nutrient crucial for life, as they melt, enhancing the plant life in the water around them." Well to vividly explain it, as the glaciers move they grind up various minerals like rock. The dust and rock will spread toward the marine life that feeds on iron like the phytoplankton. It's sort of like a chain cycle. To continue it off, icebergs also helps with global warming. For unknown reasons, carbon dioxide falls more often around an iceberg than a normal area. According to the article, MBRI engineers used a sediment cup to move around the iceberg. This chain would cause a "halo" effect. Ken Smith, a biologist hopes to find more about this topic. Until then, let's hope it brings changes toward global warming.

Tooth Pick Fish Lab

The Statistics

The "Toothpick Fish" are a special kind of fish that adapt and change colors at the time of need. In order for them to "adjust" to the settings, we came to help and decided to pick out two toothpicks to determine the scale colors they would receive. We were the fate of their lives. Before I could go on any further for this lab, the most important info I need to know is that the green allele (G) is dominant to all the other alleles, the red allele (r) is recessive to green and incompletely dominant to yellow,and that the yellow allele (y) is recessive to green and incompletely. With this amount of data, the genotypes were destined to be made.

Here's a "chart" of the possible genotypes and phenotypes.

There are twelve fish at the start each varying in color. Each of them go through the battle of survival. The environment changes through the generations ranging from seaweed and algae to a empty river full of rocks and sand. These fish will have to go through four generations of pain and terror. Wish them luck as death has come to gobble them. RAWR 0-0...

The Game of Survival
Round 1

The battle for life has began and the fish are about to enter in the first generation. As my partner and me place our hand inside the clear plastic cup controlling fate, our offspring had first came out as yellow. Success! This could be the start of something revolutionary. However, it became depressing as the yellow fish had become the one oddball. In the end of generation one, green had seven whooping fish on its side while orange had four. Yellow only had one and red was nowhere to be seen. Six of the green fish had been heterozygous dominant while one of them was homozygous. The orange had naturally been co-dominant with the yellow and red while yellow was born the way it was. Sadly, the yellow had not been able to fit in with the algae surroundings in the lake we put the fish in. The yellow species had died out for now...

Round Two:
Generation two has come and a new batch of freshly bred fish has been mated. It seems that the green population has decreased to six fish. There is only one red fish left and the orange fish population has stayed the same. The alleles has changed and now seven yellow genes remain. Maybe it could be the start of a revolution? The algae still remains and nothing exciting happens in this generation.

Round Three:
Nothing changes in this round. All the fish remain alive with their new look. It still seems all the fish are going for the green bandwagon. Ten green fish now live in harmony while one red stays the same. Eight green fish are heterozygous dominant, with four of them having the yellow allele in them. The other two are part red.

The results are not being made due to the "screen not working".

Round 4.
DISASTER STRIKE. A factory waste harms the algae and it all disappears. Rocks are only left in the pond... Only the one red fish survive and two orange fish are able to hide. Everyone else dies. Only three fish remain. Let us remember them in peace...

Rugrats sure influenced these babies o.o

The reason I chose the topic, babies as it fit in with a certain someone's event and plus, it reminded me of my child days. I remembered those rug rats and how they would usually communicate each other whilst the adults would have no idea that they're "saving the world". It did not hit me that this could acvtually be based on rea l life.

How can Babies "understand our language" at 4 months?:
Babies at young age can easily understand each other's point of view like in the article of Live Science I found, " an angry dog or a friendly dog". Well, the babies may sense the idea of size could effect the way infants look into the world. For example, there's this big monster and this little puppy dog with him. Who do you think would be more scared? Maybe an idea like this could explain and help babies learn the rights. What surprised me in the article was about if you showed pictures or images of what not to do and the punishment, the baby could easily take not of it. This effect can be passed on for years and while all the other kids are cursing, your child could have manners like a prince.

The Experiment by Thomsen, a professor:
Babies were put in a room and looked at a tv with blocks. As the blocks tried to push each other, the big one won. However, ten months later the babies expected the big block to win as they kept their eyes glued onto it. However, as the big block lost to the little one, the baby just yawned and didn't care.


What have I learned from this?:
Well, now the researchers are trying to figure out if the babies would react to the winners or loser. Maybe that could be the case as it's a natural attitude many people commonly have. This outbreak has started a new fad for people to wonder. Maybe I could the next time, use this accordingly to the next time i saw a baby.

Elephant FISH and Sharks. There's a similarity? 0_0

The thought of an elephant fish shocked me. To my surprise, I had not even known that "we humans" are related to fish!!! It turns out that that same gene in those fish control the devolepment of our body parts controls the growth of some of the appendages for that fish! Calling it the "sonic hedgehog gene" is responsible for deciding whether to turn the embryo into a elephant fish or a shark. Basically, they're close-distant relatives. To find this out, scientists went diving for these eggs and taking them to the lab. As they took control of the genes for the shark embryo, they were able to see that elephant fish came to have one brachial ray while sharks have five. This could have been a sign of evolution. While they tried the gene on the dogfish sharks, it had ended up with a growth of fins just like the other sharks. Maybe the "Sonic Hedgehog" gene could allow evolution into the different animals in the sea. Neil Shubin, a professor at Chicago University says "Not only are we seeing the history of how organs are built, but we're seeing the history of the tool kit." The next step? Based on the article on Livescience.com, they will try to use the "Sonic Hedgehog" to prove the comparison between cl gene activity and brachial ray growth.

Parasites in a Rabbit



As you can see in this picture, it shows a rabbit who is feasting on some nearby grass. Little did he know that a tape worm was attached to one of his meals. Paratism is shown here as the rabbit has an intruder in its body. Although the hare shown is injured, the parasite or the tape worm is benefited by recieving a new home/meal. Despite the fact that this rabbit has a living organism, the tapeworm tries not to kill the rabbit. If it were to kill the rabbit, then the tapeworm were to die with its prey. You're wondering how I could tell that it was harmed? Well, I noticed that the grass had this worm on it which was kind of white and very small.. After like a day, a rabbit came and ate some of the grass. I don't know if it ate the parasite but by the time his lunch was over, about 3/4 of the grass was gone. I just had to take a picture of that. Although I do feel bad for this poor rabbit, at least it cleaned up our backyard from grass.

Picture for Biotic



Shown here are biotic trees near my neighborhood. As you can see, the tree provides food and shelter to nearby animals living near us. The trees near our neighborhood need light and rain to survive the hard days. Not to mention, the tree wasn't born this tall. It had to grow and absorb nutrients. The limiting factors of these trees are how they cover up sunlight and water from the plants and smaller trees. As you can see, the trees are far apart. If you were to plant a tree next to another one, that tree would probably block the light.

The reason behind why Females apologize a lot..

If you compare the times men apologize with woman, you'd be surprised. However, its not that men aren't brave enough to show their sorry. Well, based on this article men don't apologize as much due to the fact that they think it will show them as weak says Karina Schumann, a scientist. Although woman are used to being called as "polite", she made a experiment to figure out the details and if this theory was true. She then looked at the diaries who's owner's were ages 14-44. In the end, 81% of the men and woman showed sorrow. Well, I feel that Karina's theory right since men always try to act tough. Well, that's basically how much I'l be writing about since the rest of the info to me wasn' t that interesting.

Chocolate, not only a sweet tooth!!


Now you have an excuse to eat chocolate to your heart's pleasure. Did you know that DARK chocolate helps the heart from inflammation and heart disease? Remember, DARK chocolate, not milk chocolate! :) According to health studies in europe, that one dark hershey kiss could help the heart. Chronic inflammation could a risk factor for some diseases so maybe one or two DARK chocolate kisses could help. The first hypothesis from a group of researchers was that the high amount of antioxidants contained in the cocoa seeds might have beneficial effects on people. The results gave backup information by helping people have lower C-reactive blood cells which cause inflammation. Or in another way, they have less heart bun or inflammatory. Chocolate may be good for you, however if you care about your diet, be careful not to overdo it!

From Electric Cars to Electric Planes...


Electric planes can be the new style to how modern people fly. Electric motors are 3x or 4x faster than an airplane propeller. Plus, it could be much more reliable than the current modern plane. What this means? Less accidents, more business. Plus, if an electric airplane would be able to be efficient 95% of the time. This means that they waste much less! What makes me even happier is that there would be quieter planes. I always hate that noisy sound at night. It makes me wake up sometimes... However, the negative thing about this soaring plane is that the battery. The battery would need mass amount of electricity to pull off a flight. This would make the plane much huger and heavier causing unsafety to the passengers and the plane itself. Nanosolar, a company tries to solve this problem by adding solar panels under the wings to recharge the batteries. Not all planes are destined to be run on electricty yet this plane still has some advantages still. If more electricty planes are made, this means more airports so no one can complain about the noise. This idea can lead to success but we'll have to wait and see in the future.

Tuna-Fish is Lower Mercury level?


Usually when you at a restuarant, you expect you sushi to be safe and poison-free? Wrong! After reading Livescience.com's article, you will end up watching what your eating now. A new static says that it is safter to eat tuna from a grocery shop than from a restuarant. However, that doesn't mean a thing compared to other fishes. In fact, tuna is probably one of the highest edible mercury fish. Listen up as you read my blog!

SUSHI DNA:

Previous studies shown before say that there is a few diffrent mercury levels for each fish. These studies isn't reliable because they didn't have a good method for seperating the tunas. As you can see, there is a new way to determine a type of salmon. It's called DNA barcoding. In this method, scientists use a "species's fingerprint" and compare it to an unknown species. This comes in handy since some of the markets or restuarants don't even know what type of tuna they're selling! This show that some markets or restuarants could be giving you some bad fish...
However, which one gives you the better fish more?

THE EXPERIMENT:
The reseachers for this experiment took 69 samples of tuna from restuarants and markets. 54 from restuarants and 15 from supemarkets... The mercury levels were much higher than your average fish. In fact, the tuna, bluefin akami broke had a higher mercury level allowed by the USA Food and Drug Administration:

THE HEALTH RISKS:
The mercury level rises in the food chain. For example, a fish that is a predator, has a higher
mercury level. If you eat mercurary, the risk are disabilities and other serious problems that can't be fixed.

3-D TV = A Trip to the Hospital?!


After reading an article on livescience.com, there could be a risk of hurting your child from 3-D. If you feel dizzy, have altered vision, or anything else, you should take off those 3-D glasses and go to you doctor. Samsung, the company that stated why this is happening, wants to help awareness of 3-D TV since they didn't want to repeat what had happened in Japan before. There was seizures from pokemon due to the flashing graphics. 12,000 children had illnesses from seizues to nauseua. The nintendo company had no choice but to cancel this episode in case any damage happens. The author of this article at Livescience, Benjamin Radford's interesting theory was every 1 in a 5000 people are at risk of photosensetive elpilespy. This could result in a bad vision, fatigue, or nauseua. However, america shouldn't be worried about seizures.Bad excersises like video games are a much more important health topic. Beware of the 3-D action still...

Collapsing Can LAB!


While my group was at the collapsing can lab, it was  a fun and cool experience I had seeing all the cans popping and so forth. The materials we need were a heater, a empty can filled with water, and a bucket full of ice and water. First, we let the water on the heater evaporate for a little bit causing steam. The steam was caused since the metal of the can sealed the pressure just like your average kettle.  After that, the steam in the can came from the water evaporating the water. Before you knew it, steam was forced to come out. Quickly, we put the can into the bucket of  ice cold water. As a result, it made a huge clang. This had happened since when the can began to evaporate, the cold water made the can's water also condensed. The two diffrent reactions couldn't break through at each other. As a result, it collapsed from the pressure. This was a fun lab to do and I hope I can try it again!

The Popcorn's Radiation Reason


You'll pop when you realize about why popcorn pops. The answer is all hidden in here :). So you're wondering, what causes the popcorn pop? Well actually the secret ingredient for making it pop is something called water! Each kernel contains a hard outer shell and a little water inside. When you finally microwave it, the kernels are evaporated and from the pressure, it causes the popcorn to blow up. As more steam comes, the popcorn soon lets out a pop from the shell not being able to hold in the pressure. At least, you hear the classic POP! This turns the kernel inside out and showing it's bright yellow starch.

The atmosphere Activity

From this website, I learned about many things about the atmosphere. I figured what Carbon dioxide does, how oxygen helps, and what the ozone layer does. I'm going to write about my experience here.

Carbon Dioxide:

Carbon dioxide is a gas that retrieves heat from the sun and makes less than one percent of the environment. It comes from volcanoes, automobile exhausts, factories, power plants, and decaying plants and animals. I didn't know that the oils we use come from dead decayed animals that were buried in swamps 350 million years ago. This is why global warming started since we used those fuels too much from cars and so forth. That explains why they call it fossil fuels!! What had also surprised me that other planets had carbon dioxide! For example, venus had it yet it is too thin, that there wasn't enough carbon dioxide to keep the planet above -81F. On Mars, it's so dense that the temperature, that the temperature is 873 F!!

Oxygen:
Oxygen which is air that helps us breath formed 4.6 billion years ago. It started as a cyanobacteria which made oxygen through photosynthesis. I didn't know that! Today, oxygen levels rose and now they fill up 1/5 of the earth's atmosphere. Oxygen first formed on earth by the sun's ultraviolet radiation that broke the molecules of water. Today, our oxygen comes photosynthesis which comes from plants that use the sun's energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into oxygen.

Ozone:
Ozone is a gas that has three oxygen atoms. It shields the earth from sun's ultra violet lights. What surprised me was that aerosol sprays and refrigerants caused the ozone layer to thin i n 1980. When these got banned, the ozone layer stopped growing, however, it's expected not to close in 40-50 years. Another about ozone is that is called photo chemical smog at ground level. It's so reactive that it causes people to burn their lungs. Kids breathe more than adults so we kids get more affected. I'm amazed by ozone.

White Roofs are cool... Literlly!

There may be way to help stop global warming without saving water, using solar panels, and etc. even though these are great practices to help the earth. Paint your roof white!! The theory isn't proven however is backed U.S. energy secretary Steven Chu and other policy makers.

Huh? HOW!

This result is due to the fact that white roofs reflect some of the heat back to space while on the other hand, black absorbs most of the light like a example, a black sidewalk. You may notice that it's extremely hot in the summer. I've had my experiences :p. If every building was painted white in the earth, the heat would lose it's effect by 1/3 of it's power.

What else about it?

If you paint your roof white, this may also have an impact on you. If you have a white roof, you would end up with a cooler house in the summer :). Now, no more complaining about the heat and the sun. Plus as a result, this could change the amount of fossil fuels, green house gases, and so on. However, it depends on which you use more, heating or cooling. Plus, a variable that may change the cooling is where the city, the density of the roof, and the construction on how the building was made. Not only that, the cooling could be slight due to the white paint darkening and parts of the roof having heating vents and so forth. The world will just have to see and wait on what will happen.

African Child Soldiers...

Child Soldiers in Africa is increasing as time passes. There is a rounded 300,000 kids in Africa who are child soldiers and the number is increasing today... (BBC World Service, Children of Conflict). About 1/3 of the child soldiers are in Africa (The Road back from Soldier back to Child, United Nations). Captured children are "trained" for two months and if they fail to do orders or tried to escape, more likely will that person be killed ( BBC World Service, Children of Conflict). Kids have to stay in hot temperatures that are probably 90˚ degrees or over. As a result they end up with skin diseases and broken back from carrying 50 pound equipment (Shelia Velez, Child Soldiers). Child Soldiers should be stopped due to its child abuse. It's horrible for kids to face this madness. I bet about 1/2 of kids in the United States wouldn't survive a day in the army.

Lose your sleep, you lose it for good...

You can't have all the sleep in the world studies have shown. If you think that sleeping until 10 o'clock on a Saturday will pay up the time you woke up at 5 o'clock, unfortunately it doesn't work that way... Lost sleep can't be made up and you'd end up being dragging yourself out of bed. Studies shown that if you stay up for 24 hours, you'll act like a legally drunk person. The confirmation coming soon...

Looking at sleep:

The researchers put nine young adults in sleep for 5.6 hours every 24 hours. However, they were given a long rest in the weekend as a experiment. Also, eight of those nine young adults were not sleep deprived. The experiment lasted for 3 weeks. The following subjects were given tests to see if they can concentrate and focus. In the given tests, they got worser and worser, day by day. The lack of sleep wore them down and they lost their focus.


The Daylight Theory:

Human's natural tendency is to want to stay up at day and sleep at night. However, this could go away as soon as night comes and the next thing before you know it, they could be staying up untili 12 o' clock. Health workers, truckers, and emergency responders should sleep earlier to prevent a "sleep debt" or else the result wiill end up with a mistake or accident.

Overall:
Basically, you should try to not lose sleep or else you could have a "sleep debt".
